Dreading...
I have been dreading going to the hospital since young...The smell of medicine, the agonizing faces, anxiety expressions, teary eyes...My mum admitted to National University Hospital (NUH) last year with internal bleeding in her head. Then, my dad admitted to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on 10 Dec 2005. We rushed to the hospital after receiving a call from my mum at 4am. My dad was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). My heart was throbbing hard and I was in fear. I kept on praying to God...In fact, I had since prayed when my hubby's mobile rang at 4am. I knew immediately something would have happened. My dad was very pale, lying there with tubes attaching to him. The medical officer informed that his blood pressure was very high and the inner wall of of his artery (from his heart) had been partially ruptured (due to smoking). He was put on drip with high dosage of medicine to control his pressure. He would be sent for emergency operation if need be. I prayed hard for his recovery. My dad was asleep. He looked so haggard. I felt sad...guity that I could not give him a better life.
We reached home at 7am. I could not sleep at all. I woke up early and went to hospital. We spoke to the doctor and knew more about my dad's health. His pressure was kept in control. I thanked God. My prayers were answered. Ann and her cell group, Danlin and Pat prayed for my dad as well. I was really thankful for their support. My dad was spared by God's grace and he was discharged last Saturday. My dad has to stop smoking. I hope that he can make it through. I will pray for his salvation. My mum too.
The sea was calm for some time and yet I had to go through another battle soon after. My hubby got hurt at his stomach and soon after, his nose was bleeding without any physical injuries. I was worried sick. It was 1am. I brought him to A&E at Changi Hospital. We waited for a long time. Soon, my hubby fell asleep. When his number was being displayed, I woke him up and realised his eyes were swollen like 'goldfish'. I was shocked. That inexperienced doctor told us that he was having red eyes. He added his nose bleed was very common. I was confused as my hubby was not running a temperature. The doctor explained that the term 'heaty' was not found in western medical records. OK! OK! Actually, I felt that my hubby's swollen eyes were caused by medicine allergy. He ate my painkiller a few hours ago. My brother experienced 'swollen eyes' after taking my painkiller too. I told the doctor but he said the possibility of allergy was very unlikely. I concluded that that was a medicine allergy though the doctor said otherwise. My friend has medicine allergy, so I know it. Anyway, I'm glad he is fine now.
