Pregnancy #2 Journal 4

Sob sob…There goes my 16 weeks of maternity leave and the $4000 of baby bonus. These will become effective only starting Jan 2009. Feel abit disappointed then! Ok! I don’t wish to talk about the enhanced baby package anymore. It doesn’t apply to mothers like me. So, what’s there to talk about? Ok! This is an update on my little mousy. I experienced regular contractions last Saturday. I could neither stand up nor walk due to the pain. The pain was unbearable but somehow I still managed to overcome it. That night, I applied some anointing oil. Praise the Lord! I was almost recovered on Sunday’s morning. On Monday, I went for a check-up. I told Dr Koh about my ordeal on Saturday. He did a check and advised me to be hospitalised immediately as I was already 3cm dilated. I was informed of premature labour. I was in fear. But then, Dr Koh put me at ease, saying that little mousy had been maintaining a good weight. Praise the Lord! Little mousy can’t wait to see her parents, grandparents, sister, etc. I admitted to TMC on Monday but discharged the next day as little mousy had decided to stay in my womb for a few days more. I was given 14 days of hospitalisation leave. Sadly, my company doesn’t recognise such hospitalisation leave since I didn’t stay in the hospital for the entire 14 days. Poor me! I already used up all my medical leave. Early this year, I was admitted to the hospital for threatened abortion and was issued with 22 days (I think) of hospitalisation leave. However, my company deducted from my medical leaves instead since I didn’t stay in the hospital for the entire 22 days. So, I was left with just a few days of medical leave to survive for the entire year. I did a check in the MOM website and found this:

The number of days of paid sick leave an employee is entitled to depends on whether he/she is:

Hospitalised* – up to 60 working days; or
Not hospitalised – 14 working days.

* An employee is deemed to be hospitalised if he/she is certified by a doctor to be in need of hospitalisation, even if he/she is not hospitalised.

So, regardless of whether I stay in the hospital or not, if the doctor has issued me with hospitalisation leave, so why am I not entitled to the hospitalisation leave? From what I understand from some mothers, they don’t have such issue with their companies. The government is encouraging the people to give birth but yet, there are more factors to consider while one is deciding to give birth. Take me an example. My career suffers due to poor health, pregnancy, etc. Eventually, I presume employers would consider the companies’ interest first before they take the employees into consideration. Am I right to say so? It is a personal choice anyway to have babies. I’m having a fulfil life…I have longed set my priority and it is my family. I feel so blessed. Dear DaddyGod, thank you. Yes, since I will be giving birth in August, instead of September, so little mousy’s name will start with an "A" instead. I like this name…Avriel…Sound nice, right! The meaning is opening of flower buds in April. Though the meaning doesn’t seem to have any connection with little mousy, and it seems more suitable for Adriel who born in April but somehow, it doesn’t really matter. Name is just a name. Most importantly, it is the identity that matters…And, little mousy is Jesus’s girl…DaddyGod’s beloved child...that’s her identity. Praise the Lord!

Pregnancy #2 Journal 3

I’m in my 34 weeks of pregnancy. Praise the Lord. Little mousy is in the pink of health. She is currently weighing 3.1kg. Yes…a big baby. Little mousy…my little mousy…mummy is anticipating to see you. 6 more weeks to go…So far, I have increased an approximate of 10kg. Hopefully, I’m able to shed those extra pregnancy pounds after my childbirth. And, I will breastfeed…As a mother, I want to give little mousy a good start in her life. And, I think breast milk is one of the best natural gifts that a mother could give…I could vividly remember the period while I was breastfeeding Adriel. I fell sick numerous times due to blocked ducts and my temperature rose as high as 40 degree celsius. However, I do not regret persevering till the end. I stopped breastfeeding only when Adriel was about 9 months old. That was the time when I realised I was pregnant with little mousy. If not, I think I will continue breastfeeding…For little mousy, I will breastfeed her as long as I could. I trust in the Lord that no diseases; no sicknesses will befall on me. Ever since I have attended NCC, the experiences of God’s love and grace have since multiplied in my life. I never felt these so strongly before. I see His love and grace bigger than before. Thank You DaddyGod. I love You so much. You have made my life full of wonders and amazement. Thank You.
