Finally, I managed to find some time to blog...Ya...I've given birth to my little princess. Finally...Oosh! It was memorable...the very day (27th April 2007) when I was in labour pain. I couldn't get to sleep and I kept tossing...As usual, I thought it was false contraction. At around 5.30am, I went to the toilet and found myself bleeding. I was scared. Hubby asked me to monitor the condition. I went back to bed and at this time, the pain kicked in. It came in every 5 mins intervals. I sat up and told hubby that I might be in labour as the pain was different from those false contractions that I had experienced for the past few weeks. Then, I said I wanted to take a shower. Hubby laughed at my silly move. I went ahead to take my shower at 6am. I couldn't stand upright while I was taking my shower. It was just painful. I was wondering then if I should go to the hospital. I was afraid that it was just a false alarm. I sat on the bed after my shower and monitored. Ya...The pain was unbearable then...we rushed to the hospital. I was brought to the delivery ward while hubby was doing the registration for me. The nurse needed a sample of my urine and while in the toilet, I realised that I was bleeding profusely. I sat on the toilet bowl for some time as the pain was killing me. The nurse came knocking and asked if I was ok. I informed the nurse that I was bleeding. I was asked to rest in the ward while the nurses were doing the necessary procedures. It was around 7.30am and the nurse told me that my cervix was already 5cm opened. I was screaming whenever the pain kicked in and the nurse asked me to try on the laughing gas. I could say...the laughing gas was of no use. At that point of time, I requested for epidural. Thank God. I did not wait for a long time before the anesthetist administered the epidural. I was relieved. My legs went numb and the pain was gone. I was happily watching TV and chatting with hubby. By 9am, my cervix was 7cm opened and by 12noon, it was already 9cm opened. It was time to push with all my might at 1pm. With no progress after an hour, my gynae used the vacuum to assist my labour. My girl finally arrived at 2.30pm. Tears just tricked down my cheeks. Finally...I could see her. Thank God for my smooth sailing pregnancy and delivery. Most importantly, she was healthy.
Time really flies. Adriel was diagnosed with severe jaundice when I brought her for the 1st check-up. Poor Adriel! It was mummy's fault. She had to admit to the hospital for treatment. Somehow, the paediatrician pissed me off. She insisted to give Adriel formula milk though I had been relentlessly expressing my milk and bringing to the hospital. Is there any ingredient in formula milk that could cure jaundice that I'm not aware of? So afraid that Adriel will refuse my milk since she has been introduced to formula milk. I was upset with myself. As a first-timer, I was not aware that Adriel was yellow...My mum-in-law kept insisting to give water but I refused. Not sure if it was my hormone. I started to dislike the way she handles things. Poor hubby! He had to take care of Adriel and at the same time, taking instructions from my mum-in-law. At times, I wanted to tell her (politely lah) to do some things herself if she is able to do so. But hubby didn't mind helping her to run errands even though he was tired. I was hurt...basically, he had no time to rest. At night, I tried my best to take care of Adriel myself so that he could catch some sleep. Or else, he won't be able to do so in the day time. I cried many times due to this...I was pretty depressed over some issues e.g. cleanliness and hygiene over my baby's accessories. During olden days, mothers only sterilised bottles, teats and pacifiers once and they used throughout the day. However, today, I was told to sterilise after every use. We had differences and I just did not know how to raise them up to my mum-in-law. I didn't say she was of no good...I appreciate that she cooks for me during this period. It was some old folks way of handling that I dislike...Sigh!
Dear friends, please pray for Adriel...ok! Will update my blog whenever I have the time. See ya!
