Christmas is nearing. So is New Year! Time really flies. I’m going to have a hectic schedule for the coming years. I’m going back to school soon. Hopefully, I’m able to manage my studies as I’m a full-time working mother. My 2 beautiful daughters have grown…and of course, they need my attention as I need to instill the right values in them. Lately, many teenagers have been making the headlines and this is worrying. However, I believe in God. In the coming years, I hope to pass all my tests and exams with flying colours, land a job with higher pay and greater fulfillment, join a care group, start my online store and spend more quality time with my little ones. Adriel and Avriel will be attending a new preschool next year. I’m getting excited. In my previous entry, I wrote that I had found a church kindergarten (Bedok Methodist Church Kindergarten) and was looking forward for my girls to receive their education there. However, I found out later that the school bus operator was not able to ferry my kids due to our location. I was disappointed because I really liked the environment and their curriculum. So, we started looking around for kindergartens again. My intention was clear. Some churches that we visited, we did not like it at all. I felt very lost and prayed for directions. On our way home, I got an urge to visit Holy Family Kindergarten. It is a Catholic Church, located at Katong. So, we made our way there. Upon entering the kindergarten, I was greeted by smiles…Immediately, I felt warm. We did not make an appointment but more like a surprise visit. One teacher brought us around and the first impression it gave me was, the children were very disciplined. They were all seated and paying attention. We like the environment too. God is great…right! Even the bus operator quoted us a price very much lower than the market rate. It was really an affordable price for both my girls to be ferried by a school bus. Praise the Lord! Now, I’m looking forward for my girls to go to school. Thank You Lord Jesus! I’m thankful that we have You. I believe our girls will grow their faith in You, becoming stronger each day as they attend their playgroup/nursery in Holy Family. I know that they will be in safe hands. Amen.
Here, I wish all of you a blessed Christmas. May the day of Christmas brings peace and joys to your family and loved ones. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

It was a gloomy morning as rain drops spattered on the window panes. The weather was cool and nice…but it looked like everyone (except the two young ones) was up early or perhaps, they did not even sleep the night before. While I was travelling to work in hubby’s car, I was filled with emotional thoughts as I was gazing the gloomy skies. Tear welled up my eyes eventually. I was emotionless the day before as I watched my in-laws’ dog, Girl Girl dying in my mil’s arms. The vet told my mil that could be her final days. I was sad to hear that of course but not to the extent of shedding tears. Honestly, I never like Girl Girl…but I don’t hate her. I presume there is a disguishment between “don’t like” and “hate”. She was not my type as I always felt she was being pampered who ate salmon and slept in an air-con room. Who cares whether she is a spoilt brat or not as I am not the rightful owner anyway? My in-laws treated her like a baby, lavishing her with dog treats and toys. Please don’t misjudge me. I don’t hate her. It is just my observation that my-laws love her a lot. It is not wrong to love your pet.
Anyway, when I came to know her condition, I was shocked. She was just another active dog in the neighborhood. A few days ago, she had a fever. And, my mil brought her to the vet. She was prescribed with antibiotics and fit to go home. A few days later, her condition deteriorated and mil brought her back again. This time, the vet told my mil to prepare for the worst due to her existing heart condition. So, it was heart failure. The vet was not going to do anything so as to let Girl Girl passed on in peace with her loved ones by her side. Anyway, she is 12 years old. However, my instinct told me to seek a second opinion. So, I searched the Internet for a hospital besides Mount Pleasant Animal Clinic along Whitney Road. I had an unpleasant experience with them a few years ago. So, I will not go back there. In the end, we brought Girl Girl to Animal Recovery Centre along Balestier Road. Hmmm…Their staffs were very professional. The vet explained Girl Girl’s condition to us very clearly and suggested her to be hospitalised. However, we did not pin much hope on Girl Girl to recover as the vet said all dogs with similar condition that she had seen last year, all died. However, I believe miracle will happen. Of course, I pray to my one and only mighty DaddyGod that a miracle will happen. Here I am praying for a miracle that Girl Girl is able to pull through and be able to live another few more years. Amen! Am I selfish to prolong her suffering? Or, should I just ask the vet to put her to sleep? Seriously, I can’t bear to do it. And, what if it is against Girl Girl’s wish to put her to sleep? My in-laws dote her so much and I don’t think she bears to leave them. Tough! And another concern would be the hefty hospitalisation bills that may skyrocket as days slip by. The charge for hospitalisation per night is $80 (excluding doctor’s fee, x-ray and blood tests). And, Girl Girl needs to be given oxygen which a tank costs about $170 that lasts for only 6 hours. So, she may need a few tanks…who knows! Friends, please pray for Girl Girl. At least, let her see my fil one last time.
My fil will soon be flying home from Guangzhou. God bless.
It has been a year. Whoosh! How time flies. I found a job and adapted well. Praise the Lord! At times, I still miss those days as a stay-at-home mum. Though the period was barely 7 months, but the feeling was so distinct from a working mum. Thank You, DaddyGod for giving me this opportunity to enjoy motherhood. However, as time slipped by, the girls grew and I thought to myself that I needed exposure. So, here I am…as a working mum striving hard to excel and equip with more skills to meet the daily challenges. I am happy that I have found a job that truly wanted. It may also be a stepping stone for me to climb to the next level as well. Sadly, at times, I feel that I no longer have interest in this area anymore. I am losing the passion :( So, what do I have passion then? Ok…it is childcare. I want to be a teacher. I know DaddyGod has great plans for me :) Faith…
I will post their photos next time. Both girls have grown. Adriel is attending nursery 1 at YWCA. And, I have also enrolled her in art lessons at Growing Paints located at Kallang Leisure Complex. I always wanted my mum to sign up art lessons for me when I was young. At that time, my parents were not well-off. After much pestering, out of love, they gave in and signed me up for the art lessons in RC. Eventually, our financial issue lingered and I dropped out. So, things that I had missed out doing during my childhood, I would source and give to my children now. That’s one of the reasons I have chosen art for Adriel. There are some other reasons as well i.e. to foster patience and to enable her to unleash her creativity. Who knows she will be the next Picasso :)
Avriel a.ka. little mousy - haha…how I miss that nick, she is an active child. Avriel never fails to brighten up my days. She is still that cheery little baby who smiles at anybody. However, I am quite amazed of the wisdom she portrays at times. She was able to twist and turn and sit up in the cradle (sarong). She could even stand up. So can you imagine how many times my heart misses its beat? Hence, I would never leave her sleeping in the cradle without anybody watching over her. However, ever since she mastered her speech, she no longer did that. She would call out to you upon waking up. However…sigh! My little mousy did not only that to scare mummy out of her wits. She twisted, turned and freed herself from the stroller. Even though the seat belts were tightened up, she had her ways to free herself and stand up. Don’t tell me my $400 worth Italian made stroller is no good. Frankly, I have no regrets buying this stroller. Brilliant design I must say. Adriel enjoys standing on the steps behind the stroller and Avriel sits comfortably in it. Feeling at ease at least that Adriel wouldn’t stray while we go shopping. Besides this, it serves as our shopping cart as well. It is a heavy-duty stroller and yet, reliable and lasting. Love it.
